Here is the thing, lingerie tends to be more for the man, than for the woman. Valentine’s Day is one of the few holidays you can really get away with that, since it’s basically a sexy holiday.

If you’ve been going out for awhile and you’re already sexual, then it’s probably alright. If you haven’t, then I’d avoid it. It just sends the wrong message. Yeah, Valentine’s Day is a sexy holiday, but you don’t want her to think you only want her for her body. If you’ve already been sexual, then it’s fine. She already knows you care.

As for size, you may want to just glance at her sizes and try to figure it out. For most stuff, you really only need to know cup size. So like 34B or 36C, that sort of thing. You may need to know small, medium or large, but you can kinda guess on that. When in doubt, just as the salesperson and describe her. They’re usually good at helping you figure-out sizes.

A gift-card isn’t good for this. Why? Think about it. You’d give it to her on Valentine’s day, and the outfit is for that night. That doesn’t work. When you give a gift-card, it’s usually for stuff people will buy at a later time, like a restaurant, Bestbuy, Walmart or Borders. Lingerie is really meant for that night. Also, you need to be careful where and when she opens a present like that. Obviously, you want to give it to her earlier in the day. Think about presenting it to her in the morning. That way, she isn’t caught off guard and she has time to prepare. She doens’t want you to just shove it in her face and say, here, put this on now. Give her some time. Also, for heaven’s sake, don’t give it to her in a crowded place like a restaurant. I’ve actually known guys who pulled that, and it’s a great way to really ruin a date and embarress her.

Understand, that by giving her this gift, you’re basically asking her to wear it and have sex with you, probably that night. That’s the meaning behind the gift.

If you really want to win her over, I’d actually suggest warm pajamas, a nightgown or a bathrobe. We’re talking about February, which is one of the coldest months of the year and instead of offering her clothes that are really thin and show a lot of skin, you may want to consider clothes that keep her warm. I once gave a woman flannel pajamas, new flannel sheets, slippers, a bathrobe and earlier that morning, I put her towel in the dryer while she was taking a shower, so it would be extra warm when she got out. Oh, we still made passionate love that night, but she was nice and warm. It’s just something to consider. That, and pajamas and robes are much easier to size, then lingerie.
